The Hartford Wild Rose Women's Rugby Football Club was established in the spring of '76 and were made up of the girlfriends and wives of the Hartford Wanderers Men's RFC. After seeing a women's team from Boston play, they decided to form their own team. Several members of the Wanderers helped get the Hartford Women's team started, today, we play among the elite of Women's teams in the United States. The longevity of this team has proved, you definitely don't have to be crazy to play rugby, just ready to take the hits and keep on going!
The Roses' participate in tournaments across the East coast. The team travels from Vermont all the way down to DC for tournaments and matches. In the summer the Roses play in various 7's and 10's matches to stay in shape for the Fall season. The Fall 2009 season will consist of 5 matches (three at home and two away) while the Spring schedule has about 5-6 matches and about 2 tournaments.
